The IT Services Prioritization and Project Management Center of Excellence (PM COE) fosters a shared project management culture by providing project management principles, guidance, and consulting across IT Services.
Our goal is to maximize project success while minimizing risk. To this end, we maintain the IT Services Project Management website, which provides a scalable framework of shared practices, processes, and templates. We also provide and support collaborative SharePoint sites for project teams.
The PM COE sponsors a working group of core Project Managers across ITS. This team focuses on continuous improvement of the Project Framework; sharing current issues and lessons learned; standardized project health reporting; serving as role models for project delivery; coaching new ITS Project Managers; and training opportunities.
Project Methodology Outline
The Project Methodology contained in this site explains the steps to follow for any project. They are listed in sequence, by phase. The information is intended to be a reference tool for the terms and documents that are associated with managing a project from start to finish. The document templates that are highlighted also contain detailed instructions to help identify what information should be included.
The Management phase identifies things that are relevant to the overall management of the project and apply to all phases.
The Process Steps are separated into two categories:
- The Process Steps identify the things should be considered standard for most projects.
- The Potentially Relevant Steps identify things that may also apply but are usually relevant to larger, more complex projects.
